School of Business Professors Wu Linhai and Pu Xujin Honored with the 9th Higher Education Scientific Research Outstanding Achievement Award (Humanities and Social Sciences)

Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the results of the 9th Higher Education Scientific Research Outstanding Achievement Award (Humanities and Social Sciences) selection. Jiangnan University School of Business has won 2 awards, including Professor Wu Linhai's work "The Chinese Path of Food Safety Risk Governance," which won the second prize in the interdisciplinary category, and Professor Pu Xujin's work "Supply Chain Model Innovation: The Road to Online and Offline Integration," which won the third prize in the management category.

The Higher Education Scientific Research Outstanding Achievement Award (Humanities and Social Sciences) is an award established by the Ministry of Education to commend the outstanding achievements of humanities and social science workers in universities nationwide. It is selected every three years and has been the most credible and influential award in the field of humanities and social sciences in China since its establishment in 1995.

"The Chinese Path of Food Safety Risk Governance" was published in 2021 by China Agricultural Press. The book, starting from the beginning of the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, comprehensively applies theories and methods from multiple disciplines, based on a large amount of literature, data, and information, to comprehensively showcase the historical evolution and historical achievements of China's food quantity supply and quality safety in the past 70 years, especially since the reform and opening up. It comprehensively depicts the innovative practices China has carried out in food safety risk overall governance, systematic governance, and scientific governance since the founding of the People's Republic of China for 70 years, especially since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and theoretically expounds the regularity of China's food safety risk governance with Chinese characteristics.

This book has strong theoretical and practical significance, and it also balances the scientific rigor of academic works with the readability of popular science works. The book is rich in detailed data, rich and vivid in content, and its language is expressed in plain and understandable language to clarify complex issues. This book not only provides valuable academic materials for colleagues in the academic community but also provides useful decision-making references for governments and practitioners, playing a positive role in promoting the modernization of the food safety risk governance system and governance capabilities in the new era, and improving food safety risk social governance and cross-border cooperative governance mechanisms.

"Supply Chain Model Innovation: The Road to Online and Offline Integration" was published in 2019 by People's Publishing House. It is the research result of the National Natural Science Foundation of China general project: "Operation Mechanism and Optimization Strategy Research of 'Community Supported Agriculture' Sharing Platform (Project No.: 71871105)" and Jiangsu Province's 14th batch of "Six Talent Peaks" high-level talent projects: "Research on Supply Chain Management Model Innovation Based on Social Network (Project No.: JY -012)". The book closely combines industrial practice, deeply analyzes the essential characteristics of the development of supply chain online and offline integration, and respectively includes consumer purchasing behavior, fair psychology of physical stores, channel power structure, product differentiation, and market competition structure into the investigation scope of the supply chain operation mechanism. It comprehensively applies methods such as case compilation, statistical analysis, mathematical modeling, and numerical simulation to comprehensively investigate the factors affecting the efficiency of supply chain operation under the background of online and offline integration, deeply analyze the conflicts that may arise in online and offline channels, and propose targeted coordination and optimization mechanisms. Particularly, this book strives to clarify the connotations of many new modes of fresh agricultural product supply chains and proposes to promote the online and offline integration of fresh consumption through industry business model optimization, supply chain system construction, and improvement of distribution logistics efficiency, thereby opening up more consumption scenarios and innovative models. The research conclusions of this book can not only enrich the theoretical achievements in the field of supply chain but also provide decision-making references for enterprise management practices.
