From April 27th to 28th, the 2024 High-Quality Academic Paper Writing Workshop, by the School of Business,Jiangnan University, co-hosted by the Editorial Office of "Chinese Journal of Management Science," and the Institute of Supply Chain and Operations Management of Management Science and Engineering, and Hefei Zhongke Xingchen Exhibition Service Co., Ltd., was successfully held at Jiangnan University (Wuxi Taihu Crown Holiday Hotel). This workshop invited esteemed professors such as Professor Xiao Yongbo from Tsinghua University, Associate Professor Lin Zhijie, Professor Li Jianping from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Lv Xin from the National University of Defense Technology, Professor Liu Hefu from the University of Science and Technology of China, and Professor Zhang Jianqiang from Jiangnan University to provide in-depth insights into high-quality academic paper writing, aiming to accelerate the formation of new productivity in high-quality academic paper writing and enhance the academic paper writing capabilities and levels of graduate students and young scholars. Over 150 representatives from universities, graduate students, and researchers nationwide attended the workshop. The workshop was chaired by Professor Pu Xujin, Dean of the School of Business,Jiangnan University.
During the opening ceremony, Dean Pu delivered a welcome speech, emphasizing the significance of academic papers in disseminating research findings, promoting academic progress, and facilitating knowledge sharing in today's era of knowledge explosion. He highlighted the importance of jointly writing and adhering to the development of academic papers with Chinese characteristics in response to General Secretary Xi Jinping's call to "write papers on the land of the motherland." This workshop, jointly organized by Jiangnan University and the Machinery Industry Press, holds great significance in this regard.
Professor Xiao Yongbo from the Department of Management Science and Engineering at Tsinghua University delivered a keynote speech titled "Growing Together with Graduate Students - My Experience and Confusion." He shared his experience in guiding doctoral students throughout the entire process, from topic selection, refining scientific questions, modeling, derivation, insight mining, to writing papers and creating presentations. He emphasized the formula of "Interesting + Important =Influential" in cultivating graduate students for academic research.
Professor Li Jianping from the School of Economics and Management at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences gave a presentation titled "Analysis of the Development Trend of Chinese Management Science Journals and Reflections on High-Quality Research." He systematically reviewed the evaluation indicators or lists of existing journals in the field of management science, and deeply analyzed the development trends and evaluation practices of Chinese management science journals. While acknowledging the important role of Chinese journals in enhancing academic influence and promoting disciplinary development, he also pointed out various challenges they face, encouraging scholars to actively submit papers, participate in journal construction, and collectively promote the development of Chinese journals.
Professor Liu Hefu from the School of Management at the University of Science and Technology of China delivered a presentation titled "From Topic Selection to Publication of Management Research - A Case Study of Omni-Channel Retail Research." Using omni-channel retail as a case study, he discussed the process of management research, providing specific guidance for research and publication. His presentation not only provided practical guidance for graduate students but also offered valuable academic experience for young scholars.
Professor Zhang Jianqiang from the School of Business at Jiangnan University gave a presentation titled "Thoughts and Techniques on the Application of Management Models." Through case analysis and sharing of practical experience, he demonstrated how to flexibly apply management models to solve real-world problems. Professor Zhang emphasized the need to integrate the application of management models with practical situations, focusing on their applicability and operability. His presentation not only provided scholars with practical tools and methods but also provided strong theoretical support for management practice.
Professor Lv Xin from the School of Systems Engineering at the National University of Defense Technology delivered a presentation titled "Research Topics in Management Science." Topic selection is the core of scientific research, and a good topic can lead research directions and promote disciplinary development. Professor Lv shared his experiences and insights on topic selection, which are of great guiding significance for improving the topic selection capabilities of graduate students and young scholars.
Associate Professor Lin Zhijie from the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University gave a presentation titled "Problem-Oriented Interdisciplinary Research Core in Data Science and Network Science." He elaborated on the new functions and sources of data in the era of big data, as well as their impact on human behavior. Associate Professor Lin pointed out that the application of big data provides new perspectives and methods for management science research, helping to reveal the laws and mechanisms behind complex phenomena. He encouraged scholars to actively explore the application of big data in the field of management science and promote the in-depth development of interdisciplinary research.
The 2024 High-Quality Academic Paper Writing Workshop concluded successfully at Jiangnan University, providing a communication platform for young scholars. Through in-depth discussions and collisions of ideas, the workshop highlighted the importance of academic paper writing in promoting academic progress. The achievements and gains of the workshop will effectively promote the improvement of academic paper writing skills and contribute more wisdom and strength to the prosperity and development of the academic community. At the same time, we look forward to hosting more high-quality conferences in the future, continuously providing opportunities for scholars to exchange and learn, and jointly writing a new chapter in academic paper writing.
